Bryan Main Library Summer Reading 2024

The Bryan Main Library will begin their summer reading programs on May 31st and finish July 31st.  “Adventure Begins at Your Library” and this year there will be stories, games, activities, music and special visitors all included in the summer fun, with a special literary focus on the Percy Jackson book series, including themed programs and prizes!

Start the summer off on May 31st with “Half-Blood Heroes Hour” which will be held weekly on Fridays at 1:00pm through July. Drop by Camp Half-Blood and immerse yourself in the world of Percy Jackson with a full hour read-aloud session of “The Lightning Thief”. While enjoying the story you will have the opportunity to participate in a themed activity! Register to attend.

Mondays in June and July, teens and young adults can attend the Dungeons & Dragons Club “Roll Initiative” weekly at 4:00pm. Play through The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, a D&D game set in the realm of Prismeer. Register. 

 Tuesdays will have Story Time at 10:30am. On June 11th and July 2nd special guest Heidi Stark will host yoga storytimes. Other surprise guests will visit throughout the summer. “Summer Camp: Empowered to Be Free” will also be held weekly on Tuesdays at 10:30am, June 4th through July 30th. Generously provided by the ECHO Coalition (Williams County Health Department) and Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio, this “You, Me, Together Vape Free” program is aimed at a youth’s choice not to use, exploring the reasons youth may be curious about using, and empowering teens to take action in their own lives. “D&D Summer Camp” will be held on Wednesdays at 2:00pm in June & July. This 10-week D&D campaign is designed especially for young people who are just learning to play. Make your hero, choose their abilities, and test them with…Adventuring School! Everything you need to play will be provided, including snacks. For kids up to age 12. Register. 

Lego Club will take place on Thursdays in June and July at 4:00pm for kids of all ages. Come unleash your creativity each week with new Lego builds! 

On Fridays, all ages and skill levels can participate in Chess Club at 3:30pm. Led by Tim Geleide this club will build your skills and introduce you to fellow chess lovers.

The Bryan Main Library will also hold Summer Reading special events. “Coding with Scottie” a coding class for middle schoolers will take place on June 3rd and July 1st at 4:00pm. Register. The Teen Perler Bead Project: Signs of the Zodiac will be held on June 5th at 3:00pm. Register. Ages 13+, can experience the thrill of music with “Name That Tune” on June 10th and July 8th at 6:00pm. Register. 

All ages are invited to attend the “Summer Reading Celebration” on June 15th at 12:00pm. Enjoy concessions, a bounce house, and games and activities themed around Greek Mythology! Don't forget to pick up your summer reading Bingo card and check out Dr. Drachma's Shop to see what prizes you can earn by filing up those Bingo Cards!

 Attend Family Bingo on June 17th and July 15th at 5:30pm. Prizes awarded to winners! Ages 5 through 12 can make their own Mythomagic in Kids Craft Club on June 19th at 10:30am. Register. Enjoy "Movie Night at the Library" on June 24th at 5:30pm and watch Rio. Bring your favorite fluffy pillow or stuffy and a blanket. We'll provide the snacks! All ages welcome. 

This year the Bryan Main Library is partnering with the Fountain City Amphitheater to bring the Exotic Zoo to the community! The Exotic Zoo will be at the Amphitheater on July 3rd at 10:00am. All ages can come see this unique traveling zoo for a safe educational way to see, feel, and observe animals from around the world!

Celebrate Shark Week July 22nd through 26th! Kids, take part in Shark Trivia and dive into a fun filled adventure as you explore the Children’s Dept. to find the answers to 20 exciting shark-themed questions. Adults can also test their shark knowledge with a special Shark Quiz!

Enjoy a Summer Fun Day at Roseland Park on July 26th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Visit with Outreach Manager Loni Smith; play yard games, listen to music and story time. Ride in Furry Oversized Animal Karts from Four of a Kind Entertainment from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. There will be a free book giveaway and free bottled water while supplies last. 

Summer Reading will end with “Camp Half-Blood Capture the Flag” held at Garver Park on July 31st at 11:00am. Finish off the summer Camp Half-Blood style! Divide into 2 teams, Ares & Athena, to see who can outwit their opponents and steal their flag first. Feast in the winner's honor afterwards! Participants-open to ages 8 through 16. Register. Parents and older/younger campers can spectate.
