Pioneer Library Summer Reading Programs

The Pioneer Branch Library will be holding many exciting Summer Reading events with a theme of “A Universe of Stories”. Stop in to the library to sign up for fun activities and reading prizes! Summer reading registration starts on Monday, May 20th.

The library will host several weekly happenings throughout the summer. Mondays of June 10, 17 and 24 at 10:30 am, will be Lap Time for Babies, ages 9 to 24 months. Lap Time is a great way to help with early literacy training for babies and their parents. On Thursdays, May 30 through July 25, the library will show a movie at 1:00 pm, and will serve popcorn! A movie will not be shown on Thursday, July 04 as the library will be closed for Independence Day.

Summer Reading special activities will officially kick off on Tuesday, May 28 with a fun craft program for teens, ages 13 through 17, and senior citizens, age 60+. Create Coffee Bean art at the Pioneer Senior Center at 10:30 am.  On Wednesday, May 29 at 1:00 pm, kids can make their own space alien with the Noah’s Ark Plush Pal workshop! You must register to attend, as the class is limited to 30 participants.

Summer Reading programming in June will continue on Monday, June 04, with a special presentation from ODNR on native animals, and park/water safety, at 1:00 pm!  Launch rockets on Wednesday, June 05 with the Imagination Station, and attend the fun session “Tricky Trajectory”. This program will be held at 10:30 am, and also at 1:00 pm at the Pioneer Community Center. You must register to attend. On Tuesday, June 11 come have fun with Heather Jones, Senior Program Director of Williams County YMCA, at 1:00 pm. There will be lots of games/activities! Jim Barron will put on an, “Out of this Universe Reading and Magic Show” on Wednesday, June 12 at 1:00 pm. The program will be held at the Pioneer Community Center. On Tuesday, June 18 at 1:00 pm, meet the Rockhound with Edmund Jarzembski at the library. At 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 19, enjoy space themed fun and magic with Jeff Wawrzaszek, at the Pioneer Community Center. Meet the Village Helpers and their big trucks, on Tuesday, June 25 at 1:00 pm! The event will be held in the paved parking lot across from the Community Center. Take part in Kings Island day on Wednesday, June 26 at 1:00 pm. Experience the coaster thrill and carnival games. One lucky family will win 4 tickets to Kings Island! Eligible entries include: registered in Pioneer Summer Reading, has read 1 book from the library, and has attended at least 1 summer reading program.

July events will begin on Tuesday, July 02. Make your own Ocean Creature with Noah’s Ark Plush Pal Workshop, at 1:00 pm. You must register to attend, as class size is limited to 30 participants. Stop in to the library anytime during the afternoon on Wednesday, June 03 to do Make N’ Take Crafts! The Summer Reading Closing Party will take place on Tuesday, July 09 at 1:00 pm. Come celebrate the end of summer reading with lots of fun, and ice cream! The library will also hold Water Games on the lawn on Wednesday, July 17 at 1:00 pm.
