J.R.R. Tolkien was an English author, academic, and poet during the early to mid 20th century. He is most known as the author of the fantasy novels, “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”. Tolkien has been popularly identified as the “father” of modern fantasy literature, and is regarded as one of the most influential authors of all time.
