The Local History Center is excited to announce a new series of cultural program for our adult patrons: The “I’ll Take…” series. This series of programs will feature drinks, food, and music from various eras. Each event will take place ‘under the dome’ in the Bryan Main Library Carnegie Room. The first program of the series will be “I’ll Take…Manhattan!” Go back to the age of I Like Ike, Kennedy’s Camelot, the Jet Set, and Frank and Rat Pack – a time of black tie, late suppers, and the three martini lunch.  “I’ll Take…Manhattan” will be held on Friday, March 23 at 6:00 pm. Featured drinks are the grasshopper, once considered “dessert in a martini glass”; the Manhattan, a rye-based rink of the Georgetown Set; and the classic martini, favored by generations of cocktail party denizens. Taste popular hor d’oeuvres of the 1950’s, including cheese straws, stuffed mushrooms, and other delectable treats. Enjoy the sounds, sights, and the feel of the era all in one spectacular evening!   Food will be provided by Sooz’s Catering of Pioneer. You must be 21 and older to attend. Dress is semi-formal. Tickets are $35, which you can purchase before the event at the Local History Center circulation desk. The event is limited to 25 participants. Stop in and reserve your ticket today! The Local History Center is located at 107 East High Street. For more information, please contact Jane or Denver at 419-636-6734 ext. 275.
