Bryan - Main Library
Bookends Used Bookstore is proud to be hosting another local author. Dr. Walter E. Grunden, Bowling Green State University professor and Bryan, OH native, will be visiting the Bookends (located in the Bryan Main Library) to promote his latest work, Bryan, on February 4th at 6:00 p.m. The book explores the history of the "Fountain City" and contains multiple images of the town compiled from photographs at the Williams County Public Library's Local History Center. There will be a book signing along with snacks and refreshments. Signed copies of Bryan will be available to purchase for $20.00 or 2 for $35.00. Listen to author Nathan Crook's presentation on the inspiration for his new book, A Culinary History o the Great Black Swamp: Buckeye Candy, Bratwurst and Apple Butter. The program will be held in the Carnegie Area of the Main Library. Following the presentation Mr. Crook will sign copies of his book. Refreshments will be available. Come to the library on December 12th at 6:30 p.m. and get your picture taken with Santa! Every family will receive a number when they arrive to avoid long lines. The Bryan Library will be holding a boogie-woogie and holiday themed piano concert on Friday, November 15th at 7:00 pm featuring well-known pianist and YouTube sensation Matthew Ball, who is described as ‘Michigan’s Best’ in Ragtime, Boogie-woogie & Blues piano entertainment. his program is free to the public with snacks and refreshments provided following the performance. Matthew’s concert will take place in the Carnegie area of the Main Library and is the second performance in the Carnegie Concert Series featured at the Bryan Library. Local author Bobbi Schlosser has written and illustrated the book, Pilgrim and will be holding a book reading at the Bookends Used Bookstore at the Bryan Library Monday, November 4th at 6:30 pm. The book accounts the true Thanksgiving rescue of Mrs. Schlosser’s cat Pilgrim, who will also be visiting the library.
According to the author’s biography, “Bobbi is a training specialist at a facility for the disabled and operates the Art Department there. She is an accomplished artist and has won numerous awards and is the past president of the Black Swamp Art Guild. She has seven grandchildren, and she and her husband, Dave, along with Pilgrim and Lucy, live in a cottage by the creek that you see in the book. She hopes that her message of caring extends to all that read Pilgrim.”
